This beginner-friendly quilt class is perfect for anyone who wants to learn how to make a quilt from start to finish. Over eight guided sessions, we’ll begin at the very beginning—choosing fabrics and preparing them properly—and work step by step through the entire quilting process to make ta lap sized Times 3 Quilt by Mountain Peek Creations.

We’ll walk through the process step by step, from preparing your fabrics, to stitching on paper, sewing units together to achieve a block and assembling blocks into a beautiful Spring Table Runner. This class is suitable for confident beginners and beyond, with plenty of tips shared to help you achieve the confidence to do more Foundation Paper Piecing in the future.

In this fun and creative class, you’ll learn the basics of hand-turned appliqué while making the charming runner “Tangled Daisies” by Jillily Studio. This class will walk you through the process step by step, from preparing your appliqué pieces, turning the raw edges, making vines, and stitching your shapes down confidently and neatly for a polished look. Participants must purchase kit from Chicken Feed Quilts

This utterly adorable design guides you in creating a 39 ¾" x 45 ¼" quilt showcasing an irresistibly shaggy Highland cow – or "coo" if you're feeling a wee-bit Scottish! This quilt embraces traditional piecing, with a focus on the versatile Stitch & Flip technique. While there are some points to align, the larger pieces offer ample "wiggle room" for achieving perfection. This project is perfect for both adventurous beginners and seasoned quilters!

Quilt Along with us to make a Wall Hanging Quilt using the Legit Kits Foundation Paper Piecing Patterns. We have 4 kits to choose from Sewphia, Ursula Minor, Little Hooter and Chip the Goldfinch. Each kit is made with Moda Bella Solids. As this is more of a Quilt Along structured event rather than a true class, attendees must know how to Foundation Paper Piecing already.

Over four evenings, you’ll create four mini projects, each one focused on a different quilting or sewing technique. These bite-sized projects are designed to build skills without the commitment of a large project. Each session introduces a new technique, allowing you to try something new, gain confidence, and add creative tools to your skill set. Stitch along with us to make the Nightingale Quilt by Lo and Behold Stitchery. This is a block based, beginner friendly pattern that is great for solids, prints and scraps! Mix and match fabrics to create unique block combinations and a beautiful modern quilt. The pattern includes 5 sizes. Make whichever size best suits you. Baby (45” square), Small Throw (45” x 60”), Square Throw (60” square), Large Throw (60” x 75”) and Queen (90” x 105”)

Do you have some works in progress to finish? Maybe you’re having trouble setting aside time for quilting. Or your blocks are finished but you need to arrange them into the final layout and don’t have the space, or maybe some borders or sashing that needs pressed but your ironing table is full. Make an appointment for yourself and spend the day in our classroom sewing. Work on any of your own projects and make use of our design walls, large cutting and pressing stations and finish up your PhD As an added bonus Lunch (Soup and a 16oz specialty drink) from the Chicken Coop Cafe will be provided.

We’ll guide you through preparing the fabric, assembling the shoe pieces, and finishing them into a fun, custom project you’ll be excited to show off. Registration ends January 26 for this class.

Pattern By Elizabeth Hartman This is a patchwork-pieced pattern. The blocks are made entirely of rotary-cut squares and rectangles, and everything is sewn together using conventional patchwork techniques. This pattern includes a large number of pieces, many of which are small, but the same basic patchwork piecing techniques are used throughout. Each week we will focus on building the skills needed to make the mini quilts and the animals holding them. Make either the Small Quilt (45" x 57") or the Large Quilt (75"x85")

Registration & Payment

  • Class fees must be paid in full at the time of registration to reserve your spot. Space is filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • Class fees are for instruction only and do not include materials, unless otherwise stated.

Supplies & Materials

  • Supply lists will be emailed 2 weeks prior to class start date. Please come to class prepared, have all the items on the supply list

  • Most classes require a pattern, book, or specialized tool. These will be noted on the supply list, and each student must have a legal copy of any required pattern or book.

  • We’re happy to help you select fabrics and supplies in advance—please visit the shop prior to class for assistance.

What to Bring

  • Bring a sewing machine in good working order, with power cord, foot pedal, and accessories. Please know how to operate your machine (threading, winding / loading a bobbin, basic functions). Teachers cannot provide machine instruction - bring your manual if needed. 

  • If you do not have a sewing machine, we do have machines that can be rented for $25 / class. Please pre-arrange this with us at least three days in advance. You must bring your own thread.

  • Basic sewing supplies (rotary cutters, thread, bobbins, scissors / snips, seam ripper, marking pen / chalk, pins / clips, machine needles) and any specific items listed for your class.

  • Please note: irons, cutting mats, basic rulers, and sewing tables are provided for in-class use, please be respectful of these items.

Classroom Etiquette

  • Please arrive at least 10 minutes early to set up so class can start on time. Classes are planned with the intention of completing projects, late starts due to being unprepared will negatively impact all class members.

  • Some classes require a small amount of prep work (which will be communicated in the email sent two weeks before class) - please come prepared so you can jump right into the fun! 

  • Classes with multiple sessions may require homework in order to complete the project, which will be outlined in email and class description. 

  • Please bring a meal if your class extends through lunch and be mindful of strong odors. Beverages with lids are preferred.

  • To create a comfortable environment for everyone:

    • Put cell phones on silent/vibrate

    • Refrain from bringing children or guests to class

    • Avoid wearing perfumes or scented products.

Location & Accessibility 

  • The classroom entrance is on the south east side of the building.

  • The classroom is in the basement of our building, accessible by stairs only (there is no elevator). We will gladly help carry any machines and supplies up and down the staircase for you. 

Cancellations

  • Please cancel at least one week in advance to receive store credit. Cancellations made within one week of the class are not eligible for credit. No refunds. 

  • Any classes or retreats taught by outside instructors are non-refundable or eligible for store credit).

  • A minimum of 3 students is required to run a class. If we must cancel due to low enrollment or unforeseen circumstances, you will receive a full refund.
